Dorothy Wilson Carroll

Dorothy Wilson Carroll, 100, of the Providence Care Center in Beaver Falls died on Monday, June 10, 2013 at her residence.

Born October 31, 1912 in New Brighton, she was the daughter of the late David Wilson and Blanche Redmond Wilson Herrington. She was married to John W. Carroll who passed away in 1981.

Dorothy and her husband, John owned and operated Carroll’s Hardware Store in North Sewickley Twp. for over 25 years. She graduated from New Brighton High School in 1932 and was affiliated with the Concord United Methodist Church. Dorothy was a former member of the North Sewickley Fire Department Auxiliary, the Suburban Woman’s Club, and a Charter member of the North Sewickley Lionesses. She also volunteered at the Ellwood City Hospital.

Survivors include a daughter and son in law, Sylvia (Gary) Guy of North Sewickley; four grandchildren, Dawn Marie (Jim) Miller of Reno, Nevada, Robert (Cheri) Eller of Beaver, Hope (Richard) Pacella of Ellwood City, Debra (David) Gillingham of Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri; eleven great grandchildren ; seven great great grandchildren ; and three nieces.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, William J. Eller in 1998; three sisters, Eleanor Curtis, Mabel Lory, Jean Teston, and a niece and three nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday June 12,from 6 to 9 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.

Friends will also be received from 10 am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 am on Thursday at the funeral home. Pastor Brad Neel of Concord United Methodist Church will officiate.

Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Beaver Falls.
