Elizabeth Ann Gillespie

Elizabeth Ann Gillespie, 83, of Peach St., Ellwood City died on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born November 30, 1930 in Oil City, she was the daughter of the late Charles G. and Mary Hines Myers. She was married on April 8, 1960 to Charles Raymond Gillespie who passed away June 5, 2005.

Liz graduated from Valley Grove High School in Rocky Grove, Sugar Creek Twp. She worked at the Ellwood City Hospital as a nurse’s aide for several years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ellwood City and currently had been attending the Chippewa United Methodist Church. Liz was active in civic service organizations in the Ellwood City area. She was a member and past president of the Ellwood City Hospital Auxiliary, member and past president of the Ellwood City AARP Chapter #1756, and member and past president of the Ellwood City Women’s Club. She was also a member of the Ellwood City Area Family Center and enjoyed participating in their Exercise for You Class. She also belonged to Challenges Senior Center and enjoyed spending time there.

Survivors include a son, Stephen (Bonnie) Baker of Midland; a daughter, Lori (Bob) Ealy of Wampum; daughter in law, Amber Baker of Ellwood City; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Michael Baker, and a sister, Helen M. VanZandt and a brother, Robert D. Myers.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday March 9 from 2-5 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Friends will also be received at the funeral home on Monday from 10 until the time of the funeral service at 11 am. Rev. Rod Smith of the Chippewa United Methodist Church will officiate.

Interment will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery in Crawford County.
