Elmer George Hall, 91, of Sycamore Dr., Ellwood City passed away Friday, May 13, 2016 at the Ellwood City Hospital following a three month illness.
Born November 29, 1924 in Ellwood City,he was the son of the late Harry L.and Helen Sias Hall.
Elmer attended Lincoln High School and then was employed by the Ellwood City Forge, National Tube Company, Mathews Conveyor Company, and lastly Riverside School District where he served as custodian from which he retired in late 1986.Elmer was a member of Providence Baptist Church for over 60 years where he served in several capacities. He took a lot of pride in the work he did keeping his extensive back yard, bordering the Connoquenessing Creek, in beautiful condition. He also enjoyed the many winters he and his wife spent in Florida, as well as time spent with his children, grandchildren, and their families.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Betty Jane Steffler Hall, whom he married October 5, 1946; two children, Randall R. (Mary Clare) Hall who is an attorney in Seattle, WA; daughter, Helen A. (Earl) Bowden who was formerly an elementary teacher in the Laurel School District; two sisters, Ella Mae Kimpel of Columbiana, OH, Charlotte L. Colmery of Aurora, OHo; brother, Francis G. Hall of Leavenworth, KS; five grandchildren, Matthew (Millie) Bowden of Ellwood City, Rebekah (Gordon) Stokes of Alexandria, VA, Adriane (John) Park of New Castle, Alyson Bowden (fiancé, Andrew Powell) of Alexandria, VA, Martin (Staci) Hallanzzini of Portland, OR; ten great grandchildren, Katie, Ricky and Rileigh Moyer, Hunter and Harper Park, Zeke and Mabel Hallanzzini, Vivian Stokes, Cheyenne Chapman, and David Ingram.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Kate Britton, Jean Raybould, Ruth Arket, Shirley Britton, and brothers, Harry L. and James L. Hall.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday May 18 from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Friends will also be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 10 am until the time of the funeral service at 11 am. Pastor Calvin Cummings will officiate the services. Interment will follow in the Zelienople Mausoleum.
