Elva J. Brown, 95, formerly of Castlewood passed away Sunday, February 5, 2017 at The Grove At Harmony.

Born April 28, 1921 in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Alice Keller Vogler. She was married on December 3, 1945 to Curtis Glenn Brown who passed away June 5, 1989. Upon marrying Curtis, she became the mother of his four children that she loved and raised as her own.

Elva was an active and faithful member of Harmony Baptist Church. She served as a Deacon, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, was a member of Women in Missions, the Glory Group and the Quilter’s Group. She was a former Girl Scout Leader. Elva enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and quilting.

Survivors include her three step children, William (Anita) Brown of St. Petersburg, Florida, James (Marjorie) Brown of Ellwood City, Dorothy Jean Moyer of Castlewood; eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; and a special friend, Amy Hupko.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Glenda Nicklas, a step daughter, Dianna Brenneman, two grandchildren, Kelly D. Alters and Ronald Brown; four brothers, Ralph, Willard, Walter, and Clifford Vogler, and two sisters, Lyla Montgomery and Velma Aggas.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, February 11th from 10 am until the time of the funeral service at 12 noon at the Harmony Baptist Church. Pastor Jeff MacKay will officiate the services. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
