Ethel Mae Sorcio

Ethel Mae (Koach) Sorcio, 94, of Wampum Ave, Ellwood City passed away Monday, March 7, 2016 at St. Johns Care Center in Mars following a brief illness.

Born November 30, 1921 in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late Harold Paul and Ethel Mae Webster Koach. She was married to John J. Sorcio for 20 years who passed away in 1971.

Ethel retired in 1989 from the United States Postal Service where she was the Data Supervisor in New York. She was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church in Ellwood City. Active in the community, Ethel volunteered for the American Cancer Society, the local Meals on Wheels Program, and for the Ellwood City Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting, traveling and playing cards. Her most cherished time was spent with family who loved her dearly.

Survivors include four daughters, Sandra Dishman of Port Jefferson, New York, Marlene (Joe) De Rosa of Allentown, Rosemarie (Jeff) Stragand of Seven Fields, Cheryl Lynn (Paul) Sorcio of Sewickley; two sisters, Mary Lou Eonta of Ellwood City, Nancy Lee (Ed) Perschke of Grove City; ten grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold George and Paul Edward Koach, sister, Frances Curry, son in law, John Charles Dishman, brother in law, Paul Anthony Eonta, niece, Paula Lou Hudspath, and a dear friend, Florence Harlin.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, March 10 from 4 to 8 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.

Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 11 am with her pastor, Rev. Jeff McKay officiating.

Interment will follow in Harmony Baptist Cemetery.
