Eva Mae Lape, 96, of Short Street, Ellwood City, passed away at her residence on Saturday, May 12, 2012, following a brief illness.
Born on April 17, 1916, in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late Earl Ellwood Duncan and Ida Mae Hummer Duncan. Eva married Kelly Lape on Dec. 10, 1940 who preceded her in death on April 23, 1974. She was a sales clerk at JC Penney in Ellwood City for 16 years. Eva was a member of Bell Memorial Church and also attended Calvin Presbyterian Church. A Lincoln High School graduate, she also was a member of the Hungarian Home and loved to dance.
Surviving are three daughters, Marsha (Ron) Bodnar of Ellwood, Susan (Dave) Carlin of Tomball, TX, Shelley (Darryl) Barber of New Galilee; one sister, Marian Kaufman of Ellwood City, 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, LeMoyne P. Lape, in 1944, and a granddaughter, Lori Tritt, in 2010.
Friends will be received at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave., Ellwood City, on Tuesday from 2 to 5 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. James Latta officiating.
Interment will be at the Slippery Rock Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
