Evelyn R. King

Evelyn R. King, 90, of Shadyrest Rd. Ellwood City (Frankling Twp.) died on Thursday, November 28, 2013 at the Butler VA Hospital following an extended illness.

Born November 26, 1923 in Dime, PA, she was the daughter of the late Nelson Orr and Margaret B. Gourley Riffer. She was married to Warren “Fuzzy” King who passed away February 23, 2002.

Evelyn worked at Doutt’s Dry Goods and Clothing in Ellwood City until 1977. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. Evelyn served in the Marine Corp during WWII. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, and playing cards.

Survivors include three sons, Stanley (Pat) King of New Jersey, Craig (Grace) King of Ellwood City, Bruce (Sue) King of Warren, Ohio; daughter in law, Elaine King of Ellwood City; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by son, Wayne King, and a brother, Orwin Riffer.

Per Evelyn’s wishes their will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Monday, December 2 at 11:00 am with Rev. Peggy Suhr-Barkley officiating. Interment will follow in the Grandview Cemetery.
