Frances R. Rice, 88, of West Pittsburg passed away peacefully at 1:55 PM, at the Edison Manor Nursing Home on Thursday, July 26, 2012  following an extended  illness.

She was born in West Pittsburg on February 28, 1924,  to the late Frank and Mary Broznich Shultz.  She attended New Castle High School and retired from the Universal-Rundle Corporation after 15 years of service. Mrs. Rice was affiliated with Holy Cross Church of West Pittsburg and was a lifelong member of the Croatian Fraternal Lodge #522, serving as its only female president in its history.

She loved animals, big and small, and was an avid bird watcher as well as bird feeder.  There were many faithful furry companions that she loved over the years, including Mandy, Chester, Bailey and Marshall Dillon.   Most of all, she loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, whom she loved to bake birthday cakes for.

Survivors include  three daughters, Leslie Brady, husband John; Tracey Johnson, husband Jeffrey; Billie Jo Bryant, husband Paul; three sons, Terence Rice, wife Florence; Delbert Rice Jr., wife Deanna; Scott Rice, wife Kelley; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by a sister, Helen Guy, and a brother, Frank Shultz, Jr., nephew David Guy, wife Mary Jo, nieces, Jackie Price, husband Larry Perine, and Mary Ann McConahy, husband Dave.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Margaret, as well as infant son, Tracy Lee, infant daughter, Billie Jo and daughter Lennis Lee Rice.

A private service was held at Marshall Funeral Home, Wampum, PA, on Saturday, July 28, 2012.  Graveside services, including bagpipe hymnals, were had at Greenwood Cemetery.
