Frederick O. “Fred” Moyer, 85, of Monaca, formerly of Ellport passed away Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Good Samaritan Hospice at Heritage Valley Beaver following a brief illness.
Born March 21, 1936 in Shenango Township, he was the son of the late Harvey and Anna Marie (Crans) Moyer. He was married for 52 years to Dorothy A. Moyer as they were married September 2, 1963. She preceded him in death in 2016.
Fred graduated from Shenango High School in 1955. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea as well as in the National Guard in the United States. He retired from the Ellwood City Forge, where he had worked for 40 years. Fred was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in New Castle. He was also a lifetime member of the Ellwood-Wampum Rod and Gun Club, where he served as Treasurer for a number of years.
Fred’s surviving relatives include two sons, Paul (Kristen) Moyer of Minnesota, Robert (Heather) Moyer of Monaca. He is survived by sister-in-law Eleanor Custozzo of Ellwood City, sister-in-law, Marianne O’Neill of North Carolina, brother-in-law Steve Custozzo of Florida, and by nieces and nephews who live throughout the United States.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward (Dorothy Jean) Moyer of New Castle.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, September 15 from 2:00 pm until the time of the funeral service at 6:00 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Pastor Erin Betz Shank of Trinity Episcopal Church will officiate.
Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hosptial or the Trinity Episcopal Church, 212 N. Mill St. New Castle, PA 16101.
