Gail C. Kerry, 77, of Portersville passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at the Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh surrounded by his loving family.

Born January 2, 1941 in Portersville, he was the son of the late Roy W. and Velda Young Kerry. He was married to Gena Creech Kerry who survives. They had been together for 16 years.

Gail and his family owned and successfully operated Kerry Coal Company which he enjoyed. He graduated from Lincoln High School, loved his church, and was a member of the First Church of God in Ellwood City. His family remembers him with a calm demeanor, a very patient and generous man. An outdoorsman, Gail was an avid big game hunter and enjoyed camping and rescuing dogs. He loved nature, had an immense respect for wildlife, and enjoyed watching them from his back porch. He also loved his country and relished exploring. Gail had a keen interest in education and was a generous supporter of Anderson University in Anderson, Indiana.

In addition to his wife, Gena, survivors include two daughters, Alissa ( Michelle) Kerry-Stump of Indianapolis, Indiana, Darla (Nick) DiBiase of Butler; three step children that he helped raise; Meredith (Jarrod) Miller of Pittsburgh, Garrison Phillis of California, and Weston Phillis of New Wilmington; three sisters, Bonnie (Don) McKinsey, Wanda (Cliff) Garras, Linda Kerry; and two brothers, Vernon (Michelle) Kerry, Dr. Roy (Nora Lee) Kerry.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Robert (Maude) Kerry and a sister, Elsie M. (Frank) Moore.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, January 5 from 10 am until the time of the funeral service at 11 am at the First church of God, Mercer Rd. Ellwood City. Pastor Phil Conklin will officiate the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society or the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
