Gladys M. Daubenspeck, 88, formerly of Ellwood City died on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the Avalon Nursing Center following a brief illness.
Born March 28, 1925 in Fombell, she was the daughter of the late William R. and Sarah L. Wehman Weisz . She was married for 45 years to Robert V. “Dauby” Daubenspeck who passed away March 3, 1997.
Gladys graduated from Lincoln High School and then worked at US Steel for 10 years as a typist. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ellwood City. Gladys was a former member of the Wampum Woman’s Club. She enjoyed bowling, dancing, and gardening. Her most cherished time was spent with her grandchildren.
Survivors include a daughter, Sally L. Miller of Wampum; two sons, Samuel (Dianne) Daubenspeck of Wurtemburg, Matthew (Kenda) Daubenspeck of Monaca; two sisters, Lilabelle Pander of Arizona, Joyce (Frank) Bauder of Portersville; brother, Carl Weisz of Energy; two sisters in law, Mary Lou Weisz and Margie Weisz of Fombell; seven grandchildren, Brian and Eric Daubenspeck, Chris and Nick Miller, Jacob and Madison Daubenspeck and Dustin Taylor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Chuck and Donald Weisz; two sisters, Betty Heitzenrater, Frances Marshall.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday April 24, 2013 from 4 pm until the time of the funeral service at 7:30 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.
Rev. Jim Cannistraci of the First United Methodist Church will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Locust Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
