Glenda Douglass

Glenda “Genie” Douglass died Tuesday January 7, 2014 at Ellwood City PA. Genie was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth D. Douglass, the love of her life, on December 26, 2013. Genie was born in Ohioville Borough, on April 22, 1928 the daughter of Robert Glen Hammond and Olive Popp Hammond. She was preceded in death by her sister Phyllis Dawson, her brother Keith Hammond and her brothers-in-law Anthony “Pidge” Pantoni and Paul “Buddy” Dawson.

Genie is survived by two sons and a daughter, Greg (Janice) Douglass of North Sewickley Township, Robert H. Douglass of North Providence Rhode Island and Mary Ellen Douglass of Franklin Township, six grandchildren, Thomas F. Douglass, Alison D. McKinney, Robert H. Douglass, Benjamin E. Douglass, Jean Ann Douglass and Andrew G. Douglass, and five great grandchildren, Nolan McKinney and Connor McKinney, Jacen Douglass and Sam Douglass and June Douglass. Genie is also survived by sister Belva Pantoni and sister-in-law Dawn Hammond, brother-in-law James Douglass and his wife Marilyn. Genie is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Genie graduated from Midland High School, Beaver County Community College and Robert Morris University. She was a retired Real Estate Agent with Prudential Preferred Garvin in Beaver, PA. Genie was a former member of the North Sewickley Grange where she was part of the Community Service Committee which won numerous state wide awards for Community Service. Genie was a member, and former Sunday School Teacher, of Westminster Presbyterian Church of New Brighton PA. She was a member of the Ellwood City Hospital Auxiliary.  Genie was also active with her husband Ken in operating their family apple orchard in North Sewickley Township. She was also the best mother, grandmother and great grandmother that any family could ask for.

Viewing hours will be held from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, January 9, 2013 at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Avenue, Ellwood City, PA. Viewing will also be held on Friday from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 115 North Mercer Avenue, New Brighton, PA.

Memorial contributions if desired may be made to the Westminster Presbyterian Church.  The family would like to thank Dr. Lawrence Rahal and the Third Floor Staff of the Ellwood City Hospital for their kind and compassionate care.
