Grace Elizabeth McGeorge fully embodied the meaning of her name, an undeserved gift. She was a blessing to everyone that knew her. Grace went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at age 89 following a short illness.
Born on January 31, 1932 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late C. Marvin and Clara Herb McGeorge. As a child, Grace worked hard on her family farm, participated in many sports, and took secretarial courses in high school. Grace was well known for her athleticism, witty humor, and her generosity. Grace was a hard worker throughout her entire life. She worked at Columbia Gas for 40 years. Although Grace was unmarried and didn’t have a family of her own, she claimed the Hage family as her extended family throughout her life.
After retiring, Grace spent her time traveling, reading, spending time with her family and friends, watching the news and sports, and participating in Wampum Area Seniors. She was a dedicated member of her church, Washington Union Alliance Church, where she attended for many years. Although Grace was 89 when she passed, friends, family, and strangers would never admit that Grace acted her age. She spent many hours doing yard work, seeking adventures, and keeping up with her young adult friends, Katie Hage, Jenny (Hage) Caputo, and Erin (Hage) Zern.
When Grace entered a room the atmosphere changed. Grace radiated joy regardless of any circumstances. She was a friend to all. Grace treated strangers like dear friends, had a servants heart, and never withheld anything that the Lord had blessed her with. She loved Jesus very much, and always gave Him the glory for the blessings in her life.
Survivors include her brother, Bill McGeorge of Darlington, nephew, Darrell McGeorge, two nieces, Renee Flowers, and Michelle Eddy and great nephew, Nathan Flowers. Grace is predeceased by brother, Donald McGeorge, and her sister, Eleanor McGeourge. She is also survived by her beloved friends, Judy and George Hage, and their daughters, Katie, Jenny, and Erin.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 6:00 pm until the time of the Funeral Service at 7:00 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, Wampum. Pastor Landon Stuart will officiate.
