Gretta A. Harper

Gretta A Harper, 95, of Wampum went to be with her Lord on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at her daughter Sally’s residence.

Born January 20, 1918 in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late Harry A. and Ida E Davis Shearer. She was married to John Ralph Harper, who died in 1969.

Gretta worked at various jobs in the area over the years, including cafeteria worker for Mohawk School District and Pauline Isaac’s Motel. She was an active member of the former First Pentecostal Church in Wampum. She was an avid Pittsburgh Pirate fan. Her most precious time was spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters, Joanne McConnell of New Beaver, Sally (Dave) Lias of Wampum; brother, Charles (Eileen) Shearer of Wampum; seven grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Florence McQuiston; two brothers, Clifford “Chip” and Vernon “Barney” Shearer; a son in Law, Clayton “Mac” McConnell; three brothers and one sister in infancy.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday January 8, 2014 from 1 until the time of the funeral service at 3 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main Street Wampum. Pastor Eugene McConnell of the Union Goodwill Church will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Clinton Cemetery.
