Harold L. Cole, 93, Ellwood City passed away Thursday, September 23, 2021 at UPMC – Jameson Hospital following a three month illness.

Born January 27, 1928 in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late John H. and Mary Elizabeth Ward Cole. He was married to Joann M. Spielvogel Cole whom he married on September 10, 1955 by the Rev. Ralph I. McConnell.

Harold graduated from Lincoln High School in 1947. He served in Okinawa during the Korean Conflict from 1950-1952 as a Corporal in the US Army. After his time in the military, Harold worked as a painter for US Steel until his retirement. He was a 32nd degree Masonic Member at the Ellwood City Lodge 599. He was also a member of the Consistory in New Castle, VFW, American Legion, and the of Legion of Honor. Harold was an active member of the Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church where he served as a Trustee, Deacon, and Elder.

Survivors include his wife Joann; son, Gary (Bonnie) Cole of Macungie, PA; two daughters, Sandy (Dave) Blank of Ellwood City and Mary Ann (Kevin) DeWitt of Monroeville; six granddaughters, Erin (Dave) Runco and Amy Blank of Ellwood City, Kellie (Tom) Kessler of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Kristie Cole of Washington, DC, Megan DeWitt of Houston, TX, Katie (Dave Winters) DeWitt of Alexandria, VA; grandson, Jeff (Jenn) Blank of Ellwood City; three great-granddaughters, Kenzie Runco, Carly Blank and Mia Winters; and three great-grandsons, Colton Blank, Anthony Runco, Patrick Kessler.

The last surviving member of his family, Harold was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Kathryn (Chuck) Hall and Evelyn (Karl Jones) Sudak, and three brothers, William (Ruth), Charles (Virginia), and Mervin Cole.

Private services for the family will be held at the Marshall Funeral Home, Ellwood City.

Interment will follow in Slippery Rock Church Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church.
