Helen M. Fabian, 84, of Wayne Twp., Ellwood City passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at the home of her daughter in Carnegie, PA following a brief illness.

Born May 20, 1932 in New Castle, she was one of ten children born to the late Adolph and Winifred Jones Forkey. She was married for 53 years to Paul R. Fabian who passed away on December 6, 2005.

Helen graduated from New Castle High School with the Class of 1950. Immediately after high school, she began her working career at Isaly’s in New Castle. She then worked at Shenango China where she met her future husband, Paul. After moving to Ellwood City, Helen worked and retired after 25 years from the Knitting Mill where she worked on the cutting table making men’s and boy’s sweaters. She then worked and retired in 1986 after 10 years from Leeds and Northrup where she worked on the assembly line with glass tubes. Always busy, Helen cleaned the offices at Calgon and cleaned and did miscellaneous odd jobs for elderly neighbors. She also worked at Fotia Brothers for several years. She was a member of the Union Goodwill Church. Helen loved to be outdoors, especially working in her yard in her flower gardens. She also loved to travel. Her most cherished time was spent with family and friends.

Survivors include a daughter and her fiance, Terri L. Duda and Edward Drogowski of Carnegie; a son, Randy P. Fabian of Ellwood City; three sisters, Linda Canami, Darlene (Jim) Ritchie, Lois (Buss) Edwards; and three brothers, Chuck (Annette) Forkey, Bill Forkey and Dave Forkey, all of New Castle, and a granddaughter, Mackenzie Duda of Carnegie.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold , Carl and Raymond Forkey.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday January 13 from 1 to 7 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.  Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 1:30 pm with her pastor, Eugene McConnell officiating. Interment will follow in Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
