Helen Virginia Newton

Helen Virginia Anderson Newton of Wayne Township, Ellwood City died at 11:45 pm on Friday November 8, 2024, at her residence.

She would have celebrated her 100th birthday in 13 days as she was born to Sarah Jane Axtell Anderson and Earl Alexander Anderson November 21, 1924. Ironically, she began her journey to heaven at 11:21pm on the day of her passing.

She was blissfully married to Clair W. Newton on May 24,1944 which lasted 51 years until his passing.

Mrs. Newton was a graduate of New Wilmington High School. She enjoyed working the farm with her husband and also had worked at Shenango China and the Park Lanes nursery room. She was delighted to spend time with family, gardening, taking short trips in the car. She was elated to watch the wildlife (turkeys and fawns being her favorite) when she fed them throughout the year. She ensured the animals were fed as she was taught in her United Methodist faith.

Survivors Include one son Clair Newton Jr. of Wayne Township and a sister Ella Ruth (Mark) O’Conner of Hubbard, Ohio. She is also survived by a large extended family.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers; Mary Elizabeth, Vera Bell (Allen Reed) Barber, Bernice Louise (Harvey) Barnhart Zook, Clarence Ruby McGargee) Everett Anderson, Carl Edwin Anderson, Charles Leroy Anderson (Alice Marie Stonebraker), Robert Paul Anderson (Lola H. Whitaker), Ola Jean (Joseph) Lapp.

Friends will be received on Saturday November 16, 2024 from 11:00 am until the Funeral Service at 1:00 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Pastor Sue Runyan-Hutchison Lawton will officiate. Interment will follow in the Slippery Rock Cemetery, Ellwood City.
