John “Jack” R. MacDonald, 87, of Ellwood City, passed away Friday, April 1, 2022 at the Haven Nursing Home in New Castle.
Born November 28, 1934 in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late Eugene and Isabelle (Means) MacDonald. He was married to Arlene VanGorder MacDonald for 65 years as they were married April 27, 1956. She survives.
Jack retired as an indoor salesman at Vesivius McDanel of Beaver Falls, He was a long time active member of the Wurtemburg Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder, Deacon, choir member, janitor, and teacher. He was a long time member of Wurtemburg-Perry Volunteer Fire Department where he previously served as every officer but Fire Chief. Jack had previously played church softball and he enjoyed bowling, gardening, reading, detailing his cars, and helping his 2 sons and grandson with the farm work.
Survivors include his wife, Arlene, daughter, Cindy (Jim) Rosaci of Perry Township; three sons, Jeff (Karen) MacDonald of Perry Township, Joe (Pam) MacDonald of Ellport, Gary (Chris) MacDonald of Ellwood City; granddaughter,”Colei” (Llew)Taylor of Ellwood City; two grandsons, Jeffrey (Sara) MacDonald of Virginia, Jared (Kelsey) MacDonald of Perry Twp.; great-grandchildren, Beanie, Kesena and Mayah Taylor of Ellwood City, Olivia MacDonald and baby boy MacDonald due in July of Virginia; two sisters, Blanche Novak of Ellport, Joylee (Jerry) McCaughtry of Ellport; two brothers, Connie (Lori Dunham) MacDonald of Ellwood City, Merle (Kathy) MacDonald of Ellwood City; and three sister in laws, Betty MacDonald of Ohio, Carol MacDonald of Ellwood City, and Beth MacDonald of Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Gene, Tom, Terry, Bob, and Jim MacDonald.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday April 3 from 1:00 pm until the time of the funeral service at 4:00 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Rev. Tod Custer, Chaplain for the Fire Department will officiate. Final interment will take place in Wurtemburg Cemetery. Face mask are requested at the funeral home.
