Janet G. Dawson

Janet G. Dawson, 89, of Petersburg Rd., North Beaver Twp. passed away peacefully with her family at her side Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at the Jameson Memorial Hospital.

Born August 1, 1925 in North Beaver Twp.,she was the daughter of the late James C. and Mary (Molly) McConaghy Gardner.  She was married for 48 years to George C. Dawson who passed away December 5, 1994.

Janet and her husband George established Dawson’s Orchards in 1946. She was a graduate of Geneva College. A lifelong Presbyterian, Janet taught Sunday School and led the Junior Missionary Group for many years.

Survivors include two sons, Rev. Dr. David G. (Joan) Dawson of New Wilmington, Rev. Dr. Donald J. (Ginny) Dawson of Gibsonia; two daughters, Christine (Richard) McConnell and Carolyn (Scott) McQuiston, both of North Beaver Twp.; sister, Elinore Davis of Wampum; sister in law, Eleanor Gardner of Ponte Vedra, Florida; thirteen grandchildren, and eighteen great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Anderman, Mary Jane Clark, Jean Miles, two brothers, James L. Gardner, M.D. and Thomas A. Gardner M.D., and a son in law, Kevin Cowher.

Visiting hours will be held Friday March 27 from 4-8 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main Street Wampum.

Friend will also be received on Saturday from 10 am until the time of the funeral service at 11 at the Wampum Presbyterian Church. Her pastor, Rev. Dr. William R. McGary will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Bethel Church Cemetery.
