Jay C. Mars, 61 of Jackson, Mississippi, formerly of Wampum, died unexpectedly on Monday, October 13, 2014 at his residence.
Born December 14, 1952 in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late James Franklin “Frank” Mars and Helen M. Hairhoger Mars.
Jay attended Mohawk High School where he lettered in football. He was the owner of Action Amusement Vending Machine Company in Jackson, Mississippi. He was a member of the F & AM, loved to fish and travel. His most cherished time was spent with his family. He loved life, and lived it to the fullest.
Survivors include a son, Jason Jay (Jerri) Mars and daughter Jamie Collum both of Jackson, Mississippi, two sisters, Jean Mars of New Beaver Boro and Janice Green of Memphis, Tennessee; a brother, Eugene (Beverly) Mars of Memphis, four beautiful grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James F. Mars Jr.
Visiting hours will be held Friday, October 17, from 5-8 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, 341 Main Street, Wampum. A Masonic Service will be held on Friday during visitation. Friends will also be received on Saturday from noon until the time of the funeral service at 1 pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Clinton Cemetery.
