Jean Demark

Jean DeMark, 94, formerly of Main Street Extension, Wampum, currently residing in Mill Manor Care Facility, Vermilion, Ohio passed away on October 16, 2015. Born December 23,1920 in Ellwood City, she was the oldest daughter of the late Carl and Mary Sheldone Tammaro.

She was married in Chattanooga,TN on November 20,1942 to Eugene L. DeMark of Wampum. The couple moved to Columbia, SC until Eugene was shipped out to England a few months later to assist the U.S. Army in WWII. After the war,Jean and Eugene lived in Wampum for 55 years of marriage together when Eugene passed away on Sept. 5,1997.

Jean attended Ellwood City Schools until she began taking care of her family during her mother’s illness. She was a member of the St.Monica’s Alter and Rosary Society in Wampum for many years, and she enjoyed cooking for their many bazaars and fund raising dinners. She became a member of Holy Redeemer Church in Ellwood City and then participated in services at St. Mary’s Church in Vermilion. Jean’s most cherished time was spent with family and friends whose visits were always met with a good food, laughter, and her open heart.

Survivors include daughter Phyllis of Amherst,Oh; son Jim ( Diane) of Orlando,FL,two brothers Raymond (Roseann) of Wichita,KS:Louis (Kathy) of Ellwood City;two sister in law’s Ann Tammaro of Ellwood City and Nancy Tammaro of New Castle. Her grandson Kevin (Rhett) DeMark, her granddaughter Kim McFarland,plus five great-granddaughters Polly and Kennedy DeMark, Ashley, Kaitlyn, and Caroline Dike of Orlando, FL. Jean has many nieces and nephews as well as wonderful Main St. neighbors and friends,who were always sources of great joy throughout her life.

In addition to her husband and parents ,she was preceded in death by her six brothers: Ralph, Phillip, Bob, Joe, Carl.and Jim Tammaro and two sisters Clara Innocent, Ellwood City and Nellie Cartelli, Baden, PA.

Friends will be at the Marshall Funeral Home in Wampum, Monday Oct. 19, from 10:30 AM to the time of the Blessing Service at 11:30 AM. Internment will be at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Lane:Sandusky,OH 44870
