Joan Zak Graham, 61, of Shenango Twp. Wampum died on Friday, February 22, 2013 at her residence following a short illness.
Born September 9, 1951 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Theodore J. and Shirley M. Fortney Zak.
Joan graduated from Shenango High School in 1969 and from the Lawrence County Career Technical Center as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She formerly worked at the Haven Convalescent Home in New Castle and the Shenango Presbyterian Senior Care Home in New Wilmington. Joan was a member of the Chewton Polish White Eagles where she enjoyed playing on their pool team. She was a former member of the American Legion and the VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors include a daughter, Michelle J. Singer of Boardman, Ohio; son, Theodore M. Graham of Wampum; four sisters, Linda (Gary) Mayberry of Shenango Twp., Shirley (Daniel) Milnes of Beaver Falls, Barbara (Mark) DePietro of Shenango Twp., Theodora (Carl) Stephenson of Shenango Twp., granddaughter, Sasha (Michael) Dicicco of Conway, PA; great-granddaughter, Alexandra Dicicco; fiancé, Carl R. Parks of Ellwood City; her former husband, Norman “Buzz” Graham of Vermont, and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Edith Mae Zak.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday February 26 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main Street Wampum.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday at Holy Redeemer Church in Ellwood City.
Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
