Joe A. Segura, 85, of the Princeton area died on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at his residence.

Born October 15, 1928 in San Pablo, Colorado, he was the son of the late Pete N. and Rumaldita M. Quintana Segura Sr. He was married to Elsie Young Segura, who survives.

Joe served in the Marine Corp for 20 years. He earned a bronze star serving with the Force Recon at the Chosin Reservoir Campaign during the Korean War. He was a Gunnery Sergeant and also served as an Embassy Guard in China, was a drill instructor in Parris Island, South Carolina and was a recruiter in Lima, Ohio. Upon being honorably discharged from the Marines, Joe retired following 27 years working as the head of maintenance for the Ellwood City Post Office. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed farming. Joe spent hours playing solitaire.

In addition to his wife, Elsie, survivors include four sons, Charles Segura of South Carolina, Darrell K. Segura of Slippery Rock Twp,, Joel (Jazmin) Segura of Slippery Rock Twp., , Aron (Ruth) Segura of Wooster, Ohio; daughter, Deborah (Daniel) Barron of Slippery Rock Twp., and six grandchildren, Amanda (Joe) Barron, Brian Barron and Nicole, Jared, Lauren and Catalina Segura.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Loyola Peterson and a brother, Pete N. Segura Jr.

Private graveside services were held at Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Marshall Funeral Home, Ellwood City.
