Joel W. Mariacher Sr., 81, of New Beaver Boro passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital following a brief illness.
Born December 23, 1938 in New Castle, he was the son of the late John “Jack” and Josephine (Walzer) Mariacher.
Joel graduated from Shenango High School in 1957. He retired after 27 years from Babcock and Wilcox, primarily the Koppel facility where he worked in the melt shop. He had formerly worked at Shenango Pottery. Joel was an active member of the Wampum United Methodist Church where he served as a member of the Advisory Board and was President of the Trustees. He was a charter member of the New Beaver Boro Fire Department. Joel had a unique and endearing personality and he loved to tell stories and joke with everyone. He will be missed by many.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Linda Leight Mariacher; son, Joel W. (Barb) Mariacher Jr. of Dover, New Hampshire; daughter, Janice (Brian) Blair of Wampum; five grandchildren,Ashley (Colton) Summa of Fombell, Seaman Hope Mariacher Navy Ceremonial Guard of Washington, DC, and Faith, Elijah, and Josiah Mariacher of New Hampshire; three step grandchildren, Kaetlyn (Karl) Hermann of Huntsville, AL, Kimber (Zachary) Morgan of Waynesburg, Cody (Amanda) Blair of Beaver; brother and sister in law, Bob and Barb Leonhardt of New Beaver Boro; niece, Julie (Todd) Radzyminski; nephew, Jim Leonhardt and great niece and nephew, Jordan and Brayden Radzyminski.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Mariacher.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday June 2, 2020 from 11:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, Wampum. Services will be officiated by Rev. Charles Shaffer (Ret), and Rev. Tina Keller. Please adhere to Covid-19 protocol and wear a mask. Interment will follow in Clinton Cemetery.
