John Ralph Swogger

John Ralph Swogger, 79, of  Swogger Lane,  Wampum (New Beaver Boro) died unexpectedly on Friday, June 29, 2012 at his residence.

Born July 31, 1932 in Wampum, he was the son of the late Hubert and Goldie M. Snyder Swogger.  He was married for 60 years to Helen Jay Swogger who survives.

Ralph retired from Babcock and Wilcox in Koppel where he was a crane man.  He recently retired as caretaker of Clinton Cemetery in Wampum.  Ralph was a lifetime member of the Shenango Valley Beagle Club.  He enjoyed raising beagles, hunting, and the outdoors.

In addition to his wife, Helen, survivors include three daughters – Judy (David) Arner of Brook Park, OH, Trudi (David) Nottingham of Wampum, Gayle Kohser of Indianola, PA, two sons – Eric Swogger and Erin “Guz” Swogger, both of Wampum ; two brothers – Chauncey (Rosemary) Swogger and Roger Swogger, a brother in law – Dale  Brown; and a sister in law – Evelyn  Swogger, all of Wampum; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister -Evelyn Brown; two brothers – Lee and LaVerne Swogger; and a son in law – Wayne Loth.

Visiting hours will be held on  Monday July 2, 2012 from 6:00 pm until the time of the memorial service at 8:00 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main Street Wampum.  Rev. Dr. William R. McGary of the Wampum Presbyterian Church will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Clinton Cemetery.
