John T. “Jack” Frickanish, 86, of Dutch Ridge Rd., Ellwood City (Slippery Rock Twp.) passed away Thursday, December 24, 2015 at his residence following an extended illness.
Born July 21, 1929 in Chewton, he was the son of the late John and Josephine Zohosky Frickanish. He was married for 65 years to Ruth E. Leonhardt Frickanish who survives.
Jack owned and operated Jack’sTexaco in Ellwood City for many years. He also worked and retired from Consolidated Glass in New Castle. Jack was a Veteran of the Army serving during the Korean War. He enjoyed woodworking and yard work. His most cherished time was spent with family.
In addition to his wife, Ruth, survivors include two sons, Thomas (Linda) Frickanish and Donald (Margie) Frickanish, both of Ellwood City; daughter, Carol (John) Thomas of New Castle; two sisters, Anna Mae (Philip) Nerti of Wampum, Joyce (Richard) Dailey of Vienna, Ohio; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James J. Frickanish, and a sister, Joan Cover.
A Memorial Services will be held at the Cornerstone Community Church, 2615 New Butler Rd. New Castle on Saturday, January 9 at 12:00 pm with Pastor Joe Lahr officiating.
