Joseph E. “Buster” Hairhoger

Joseph E. “Buster”  Hairhoger, 84, of  Hickernell Rd., Ellwood City (Perry Twp.)  died on  Sunday, December 30, 2012 at his residence.

Born December 25, 1928 in Wampum, he was the son of the late Joseph and Wilma Vance Hairhoger.  He was married for 65 years to Barbara L. Hozick Hairhoger as they were married on November 29, 1947.  She survives.

Buster was a truck driver for 40 years, retiring from Guttman Oil Company in Cranberry. He was a member and former deacon at Calvin Presbyterian Church.  Buster served as a Perry Twp. Supervisor  for 18 years.  He was an avid baseball fan, hunter, fisherman and bowler.  He was one of the originators of the Deuces Wild CB Club.  Buster enjoyed camping for 41 years at the Holiday Camplands in Andover , Ohio where he was the Shuffle Board Champion for many years.  He was a member of the Ellwood City Moose Club and a former member of the Wampum Rod and Gun club.  He also formerly coached baseball for the Ellwood City County League Team.

In addition to his wife, Barbara, survivors include six daughters, Karen (Richard) Figurel of Chewton, Diana (Dean) Shallenberger and Cynthia (William) Grant, both of Ellwood City, Barbara (Michael) Gagliardi  and Shirley (Thomas) Moore, both of Florida, Kimberly (Sam) Grant of Ellwood City; a sister, Shirley Leta of Colorado; two brothers, David (Marlene) Hairhoger of Wampum, Arthur (Carol) Hairhoger of New Castle; eleven grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visiting hours will be held on  Thursday January 3, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.

Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on  Friday at 11:00 am with Pastor Dick Allen and Rev. James Latta officiating.  Interment will follow in the Holy Redeemer Mausoleum.
