Joseph Stefura, 83, of Wampum passed away Monday, September 17, 2018 at the Ellwood City Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born October 11, 1934 in Koppel, he was the son of the late John and Sophia Kwasnicki Stefura Sr. He was married to Patty Tukalo Stefura for 58 years. She survives.
Joe graduated from Beaver Falls High School. He retired from Babcock and Wilcox following 43 years of service as a machinist. He was a member of the former Holy Trinity Orthodox Church where he served as the President of the Church Council for many years. He currently was attending the Orthodox Monastery of the Transfiguration Church. Joe was a Veteran of the Army. Following his discharge, he served in the Army Reserve for many years. Joe enjoyed music and playing the violin.
In addition to his wife, Patty, survivors include one son, Joseph Andrew Stefura; daughter, Stephanie (Gregory “Rusty”) Riedwood of Cranberry Twp.; two granddaughters, Emily and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Riedwood; two brothers, Metro “Mickey” Stefura of Koppel, Paul (Joyce) Stefura of Big Beaver; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary and Sophie Stefura, and three brothers, Peter and John Stefura Jr, and Walter Stefura in infancy.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday September 19, 2018 from 4-8 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. A Funeral Liturgy will be held at the Orthodox Monastery of the Transfiguration on Thursday at 10 am with Rev. Father Michael Senyo officiating. Military rites will be offered by the Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
