June C. King

June C. King, 61, of Wampum Ave., Ellwood City passed away Monday, July 18, 2016 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh following a brief illness.

Born June 7, 1955 in Sharon, she was the daughter of the late Roy Samuel Canterbury and Nora Bell Kitson Canterbury of Beaver. She was married for 40 years to William “Bill” David King as they were married July 26, 1975. He survives.

June graduated from Lincoln High School in 1973. She had worked at Formed Fiberglass and at Giant Eagle, but her most important job was being a devoted housewife and mother. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, serving on the church council, was the coordinator of the funeral luncheons, a member of the Altar Guild, a money counter, a member of the Food and Fun Team, and the 2 X 2 Team. She also was a member of the IMBS Club in Koppel. She loved to cook and bake. She also enjoyed her card club and swimming. Her most cherished time was spent with family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her mother, Nora and husband, Bill, survivors include two sons, James “Jamie” (Jessica) King of Wampum, William David King Jr. of Ellwood City; two sisters, Carol Canterbury of Wurtemburg, Royellen Canterbury of Neshannock; two brothers, Roy Canterbury of Ellwood City, Jack Canterbury of Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Brandon, John, Zoe, Matthew, Jessica, Alley, and Asa King; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Rose Palmer and Florence Canterbury and two brothers, Kenneth and Brian Canterbury.

Friends will be received on Sunday July 24 from 11:30 am until the time of the Memorial Service at 1:00 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church. Pastor Peggy Suhr-Barkley will officiate the services. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church.
