Kathy Jo “KJ” Frelin, 69, of Wampum, formerly of Ellwood City passed away Monday, August 27, 2018 at the Butler Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born May 8, 1949 in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late Harry R. and Marion K. Pisani Frelin.
KJ graduated from Lincoln High School in 1967. In her heyday, she was an accomplished softball player who won many state championships. She retired as an Executive Chef having worked in Georgia and Texas. She loved all animals, especially horses. KJ was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Survivors include two sisters, Anita Bauer of Michigan, Carol Pleiss of Easton, PA; four brothers, Ron (Deb) Frelin of New Beaver Boro, Ralph (Betty) Frelin, Donnie Ray Frelin, and Harry (Melissa) Frelin Jr.all of Ellwood City. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews including two special nieces, Stacey Gwaltney of Michigan and Tawni Fajkus of Texas, her special friend, Melodie and stepson Max from Raburn Gap, GA; and her cat Jax.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lee Frelin.
Friends will be received on Saturday September 1, 2018 from 3 pm until the time of the memorial service at 6 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main Street Wampum. Rev. Elizabeth Wallace of the Wampum Presbyterian Church will officiate.
