Kenneth E. “Rudy” Burns Sr., 90, of Portersville Rd., Ellwood City (Perry Twp.) died on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at his residence following a lengthy illness.

Born February 27, 1924 in Ellwood City,he was the son of the late Walter and Cora Hazen Burns. He was married for 66 years to Helen McKinney Burns who survives.

Rudy worked as a machinist for US Steel and then for Commercial Machine. He was an active member of the Wurtemburg Presbyterian Church. Rudy graduated from Lincoln HIgh School in 1942 then served his country in the US Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. He was a Perry Twp Supervisor for over 20 years. He also coached Little League Baseball and enjoyed hunting.

In addition to his wife, Helen, survivors include three sons, Kenneth E. (Peggy) Burns Jr., Larry Burns, Randy (Patty) Burns; one daughter, Vickie (Dell) Streckeisen, all of Ellwood City; 9 grandchildren, Sean, Brent and Larry Burns, Nicole Robbins, Joel and Danielle Carosi, Troy, Josh and Kassi Streckeisen; and 11 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Durbin and Nina Alford and two brothers, Walter and Charles “Buster” Burns.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday July 12 from 3-5 and 7-9 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Sunday at 2 pm with his pastor, Rev. Dr. Daniel Stinson officiating. Military rites will be offered by the Veterans Honor Guard.

Interment will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery.
