Laura Virginia Arkwright, 95, formerly of South Tower Rd., Fombell died Friday, August 22, 2014 at the Passavant Care Center in Zelienople.
Born July 10, 1919 in Connellsville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Jacob Norman and Eula Pearl Satterfield Welling. She was married December 9, 1939 to Norman James Arkwright who passed away in 2003.
Mrs. Arkwright graduated from Lincoln High School in 1937. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ellwood City. Virginia had previously worked as a baker at Passavant Retirement Center. She was a past member and president of the state and local GAR and the SUV.
Survivors include two daughters, Normajean Eula (Robert ) Boyd of Waynesboro, PA, Lynda Jean (Earl) Cooper of Fombell; son, Robert Welling Arkwright working in Beijing; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James Norman Arkwright, and two brothers, Robert G. and Norman Elsworth Welling.
Visiting hours will be held Monday August 25 from 4 to 7 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Private graveside services will be held on Tuesday at Locust Grove Cemetery. Rev. Pat Cleary of the First United Methodist Church will officiate.
