Leona B. Crable, 92, of Old Pittsburgh Rd., New Castle (Shenango Twp.) passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Born November 16, 1924 in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late Chauncey and Laura Belle Weakley Stewart. She was married to Edgar Crable who passed away December 21, 1998.
Leona graduated from Lincoln High School and worked for a short time in the mail room at US Steel. Leona was an active member of the Wurtemburg Presbyterian Church where she was a long time director of the Vacation Bible School Program, a Sunday School Teacher, a member of the Quilting Group, and also served as a Deacon. She worked at the election poll in Shenango Twp. for many years. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
Survivors include a daughter, Joyce (Gary) Lindsey of Dayton, Ohio; two sons, Larry (Kathy) Crable of Ellwood City, Donald Crable of New Castle; brother, Gareth (Myrle) Stewart of Las Vegas, Nevada; two sister in laws, Frances Stewart of Zelienople, JoAnn Anthony of Florida; three grandchildren, David (Leslie) Lindsey, Laura (Brad) Goehring, and Bryan Crable; three great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Victoria Lindsey and Jordyn Goehring.
She was preceded in death by son, David; granddaughter, Tami Lindsey; two sisters, Dorothy Stewart and Helen Wigton; and five brothers, Robert, Julian, Gilbert, Clyde, and Harold Stewart.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday May 4 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home. 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.
Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 11:00 am with Rev. Dr. Daniel Stinson officiating. Interment will follow in the Wurtemburg Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.
