Lois VanGorder James, 102, of Northview Estates died on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at her residence following a brief illness.

Born November 17, 1910 in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Nellie Baldwin VanGorder. She was married to the late Earl “Pinky” James.

Mrs. James graduated from Lincoln High School She was a member of Wurtemburg United Presbyterian Church. She was an active member of the Wurtemburg Perry Fire Department Auxiliary. She was a great baker, known for her delicious cakes and pies.

Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Brown of Yardley, PA, Becky (Denny) Bareis of Bluffton, South Carolina; son, Richard (Judy) James of West Port, Connecticut; daughter in law, Gretchen James of Florida; five grandchildren, Becky Eroh, Dan Brown Jr, Amy March, Richard and Peter James; and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Earl James Jr. and a son in law, Daniel Brown. The last of her family, she was also preceded in death by four sisters, Mae Holiday, Elizabeth Alexander, Martha McDevitt, Hazel Twentier, and three brothers, Ross, Charles and Joseph VanGorder.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday June 16 from 2-4 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 11:00 am with her pastor, Rev. Wes Evans officiating. Interment will follow in the Wurtemburg Church Cemetery.
