Louise G. Gibson, 94, of Stony Brook, New York, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 6, 2016.
Born June 28, 1922, in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Katherine Young Gayle. Her maternal grandparents were George S. Young and Clara Hamilton Young. She was married for 58 years to Wilfred A. Gibson, who passed away on June 3, 2004.
Louise was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Ellwood City and Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania. She taught business subjects for many years at Ward Melville High School in East Setauket, New York.
Her greatest joy was her family. She especially enjoyed visits with her children and grandchildren. She was interested in genealogy, and in later years, became adept at using her computer to keep in touch with relatives and friends. She had a life-long love of gardening and was passionate about the environment.
Survivors include three daughters, Susan (Michael) Mikos of Shorewood, Wisconsin; Pamela (Edward) Kriss of Big Canoe, Georgia; and Robin Gibson of State College, Pennsylvania; a son, Brian (Lisa) Gibson of Swansboro, North Carolina; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held in East Setauket, New York. There will be a graveside ceremony in Locust Grove Cemetery on Thursday, August 11 at 3:00 pm. Rev. Angelique Bradford of the First United Methodist Church will officiate.
