M. Patricia Seaburn

M. Patricia Seaburn, 81, passed away Monday, February 17, 2020 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh surrounded by loved ones.

Born July 28, 1938 in McKeesport, PA, she was the daughter of the late Earl Woodferd and Mildred Virginia (Johnson) Dougherty. As a child, she moved with her parents and sister to the Shadyrest area of Ellwood City and grew up along the Connoquenessing Creek, spending many days canoeing and caring for her pet animals.
She married her beloved husband John W. Seaburn on September 26, 1956. They resided in Ellport (Ellwood City) and enjoyed 53 years of marriage before his death on February 24, 2010 – one week shy of a decade before Patricia’s passing. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Trina D. Seaburn Weingart, who died July 1, 2019.

Patty was a graduate of Lincoln High School and Slippery Rock State Teachers College. She retired in 2000 after 39 years of teaching elementary students in the Ellwood and Riverside School Districts. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and Bible School Volunteer. She loved animals, horseback riding, and enjoying the sounds of nature from her porch at home. Her most cherished time was spent with family and friends.

Survivors include three sons, Douglas Seaburn of Pittsburgh, Christopher (Cindy) Seaburn of Shenango Twp., Lance (Tonia) Seaburn of Lorraine, Ohio; son-in-law, Jason Weingart of Neshannock Twp; sister, Marynelle (Bill) Kness of Ellwood City; eleven grandchildren: Johnathan, Perry, Thomas, James, Joseph, Samantha, Zachary, and Ryan Seaburn, and Meredith, Cecelia, and Katarina Weingart; and ten great grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, February 19 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Funeral Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church on Thursday at 11 am with her pastor, Rev. Angelique Bradford officiating. Private interment will follow in Slippery Rock Church Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church or the John W. Seaburn Memorial Scholarship Fund.
