Madison C. “Sonny” Main

Madison C. “Sonny”  Main, 76, of Clearvue Dr., Ellwood City (North Sewickley Twp.) died on  Thursday, March 14, 2013 at his home.  Although he had been in ill health, death was unexpected.

Born September 13, 1936 in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late Carl V. and Lena M. Burr Main. He was married for 44 years to Dorothy L. Kettler Main who passed away on April 28, 1999.

Sonny retired from Rochester Machine in 1998 where he was a machinist.  He had previously worked  at the Aetna Standard in Ellwood City.  He was a life member of the North Sewickley Twp. Volunteer Fire Dept where he served as the Assistant Chief of Station 2 for many years.  He enjoyed his farm, his animals, hunting and practical jokes.  Sonny’s most cherished time was spent with his family.

Survivors include four sons, Carl (Kathy) Main at home, Madison “Ken” (Jill) Main of North Sewickley Twp., Steve (Jill) Main of Harmony, Mike Main of North Sewickley Twp.; four daughters, Bonnie (Dennis) Fedder of Arkansas, Betty Main of Wampum, Sally Main at home, Dorothy (Roy) Baney of Big Beaver Boro; three sisters, Nina Freed of New Castle, Leona Zeigler of North Sewickley Twp., Carolyn Smith of Florida; special friend, Tamara Blackburn, of North Sewickley Twp.; sixteen grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren,

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bidwell Main; three sisters, Madolyn Majors, Ethel Piper, Emma Druschel;  and a grandson, Matthew Edward Main.

Visiting hours will be held on  Sunday March 17 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.

Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 11:00 am with Pastor Ron Follett officiating.

Interment will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be mad to the North Sewickley Volunteer Fire Department.
