Margaret Tritt

Margaret Peg” Tritt, 97, of Ellport passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at the Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born October 16, 1925 in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Margaret Gilchrist Gardner. She was married to Floyd “Bud” Tritt who preceded her in death in January 1994.  She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Kliendienst, Evelyn Adams, and Alberta Hamilton

Peg graduated with the Lincoln High School May Class of 1942 and continued her education graduating in 1945 with a Bachelor Degree in Education from Geneva College. She began her teaching career with the Beaver Falls School District, teaching from1945-1951. She went back to teaching in Ellwood City from 1969 until her retirement in 1989 where she taught kindergarten. Peg was an Elder and Deacon at the former Knox Presbyterian Church where she was a member of their Women’s Association and the Bethany Class. She was also a member of the Ellwood City Woman’s Club, AARP, and Wednesday Craft Club with her special friends. Her volunteer work included Meals on Wheels and the Ellwood City Hospital Snack Bar. Peg loved and enjoyed her family, her many good friends, and her happy retirement years.

Survivors include two sons; David (Patti) Tritt of Ellwood City, Dennis (Joyce) Tritt of Butler; daughter, Carolyn (Thomas) Shaw of Wisconsin; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren, and special friend, Don Hairhoger.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
