Marion Louise Downey

Marion Louise Downey, 88, of Wampum passed away Friday, January 29, 2021 at her residence following an extended illness.

Born June 12, 1932 in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late William and Catherine Locke Martin. She married the late Ernest E. Downey Sr. on March 5, 1949. He died on July 10, 1989.

Marion was a member and past president of the Wampum American Legion Auxiliary. She retired after over 20 years from Joseph’s Supermarket. She enjoyed traveling, going to Las Vegas Casinos, camping, and sitting around the campfire. Marion loved being surrounded by her family.

Survivors include three daughters, Charlene Downey, Cheryl (Robert) Walker, and Cheri Jo Downey all of Wampum; two sons, Ernest Downey, Jr. of Wampum, and Mark (Amy) Downey of Ligonier; nine grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; great great granddaughter; brother, Robert Martin of Daytona.

She was also preceded in death by daughter in law, Susie Downey; granddaughter, Katelyn Downey; great grandson, Chase Schrantz; three sisters and two brothers.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday February 1, 2021 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, 341 Main Street, Wampum.

Funeral Services will be held at the Marshall Funeral Home on February 2, 2021 at 11:00 am with Pastor Dave McQuaid of the 1st Baptist Church officiating.
Interment will follow in Clinton Cemetery.
