Martha E. Young

Martha E. Young, 97, formerly of Ellport, died Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Creek Meadows in Zelienople following a brief illness.

Born September 11, 1916 in Connoquenessing, PA, she was the daughter of the late Alvin and Dora Fehl Milleman. She was married for 60 years to William Lloyd Young who passed away November 15, 2002.

Mrs. Young was an active member of Calvin Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon. She and her husband owned Young’s Garden Center in Ellport from 1954-1993. During WWII, Martha worked at US Steel in Ellwood City. She had also formerly worked at Albert’s Drug Store. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, #212 in Ellwood City. She also volunteered for the local Meals on Wheels Program.

Survivors include two daughters, Jill (Larry) Gaiser of Ellport, Linda (Roger) Pflugfelder of Princeton, New Jersey; four grandchildren, Alex (Juliana) Pflugfelder, Carrie (Michael) Perlmutter, Matthew (Stacy) Gaiser,Sarah (Jeremy) Cox; and five great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Oliastro and Anna Johnston.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday August 19 from 2 until the time of the funeral service at 4 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.

Interment will follow in the Mountville Cemetery.
