Mary Spiker, 82, of Franklin Twp. passed away Sunday, January 14, 2018 at West Penn Hospital following a brief illness.
Born May 24, 1935 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Ethel Bartholomew Hutchison. She was married for 64 years to Donald M. Spiker as they were married on December 26, 1953. He survives.
Mary graduated from New Castle High School. She was a former member and Sunday School Teacher at the United Bretheran Church in Ellport. She currently is a member of the Free Methodist Church. Mary enjoyed making wedding cakes and was a talented seamstress. She was a member of the Ellwood City Hospital Auxiliary for over 24 years. Her most cherished time was spent with family.
In addition to her husband, Don, survivors include three sons, Donald M. (Mary) Spiker Jr. of Missouri, James H. (Cathy) Spiker and Ronald J. (Tara) Spiker, both of Fombell; two daughters, Diane (Tim) Flick of New Jersey, Debra J. Foreman of Ellwood City; two sisters, Eilene Bower of Franklin, PA, Elizabeth Parry of New Castle; three brothers, Harold and Frank Hutchison, both of New Castle, John Hutchison of New Wilmington; 18 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Lois Arkwright, June Reiber, and Ethel McClosky and a son in law, Gary Foreman.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday from 5 to 8 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Friends will also be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 until the time of the funeral service at 11am. Pastor Tim Flick will officiate the service.
