Maxine Harmer Miller, 89, of Sunset Blvd., Ellwood City died Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at the Golden Hill Nursing Center following an illness.
Born October 31, 1924 in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late Scott and Louise Mehaffey Harmer. She was married to the late Donald J. Miller who passed away June 1, 2012.
Maxine retired from Riverside High School where she was the secretary for 26 years. During WWII, she worked at the National Tube Mill in Ellwood. Maxine graduated from Lincoln High School in 1942. She was an active member of the Knox Presbyterian Church, having served as a Deacon, Elder, and Sunday School Teacher. She enjoyed reading and music.
Survivors include a daughter, Carole A. Miller of Ellwood City and a son, Donald J. (DeeDee) Miller of Harpswell, Maine.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Nel Rose Syphrit.
Friends and family will be received on Saturday October 18 from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the Funeral Service at 2:00 P.M. at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Pastor Peggy Suhr Barkley will officiate. Interment will follow in the Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
