Patricia (Patty) Skvarla, 89, of Ellwood City passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at UPMC Montefiore, Pittsburgh.


Born July 30, 1935 in Lower Chewton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sylvia Leopardo.


Patty graduated from Lincoln High School in 1953. She was very active in the community, being a member of the Women of the Moose, the Municipal Women’s Club, Challengers, and various card clubs. Patty married William (Bill) Skvarla on February 12, 1955 and enjoyed 66 years of marriage. 


Survivors include her four children, William (Regina) Skvarla Jr. of Saginaw, MI; Janis (Mike) Leiper of Chippewa; Jeff (Cindy) Skvarla of Ellwood City; and Joe (Lisa) Skvarla of Coeur D'Alene, ID; three granddaughters, Jamie (Jeremy) Sanderlin, Kathryn Skvarla (Zach Wieben), Nicole Basile (Joe) ; three grandsons, Brian Skvarla, Stephen Skvarla, and Nicholas Leiper; and three great grandchildren: Amelia Sanderlin, Brayden Basile, and baby Basile. She is also survived by two sisters, Phyllis Palagallo of Wampum and MaryAnn Perry of Ellwood City.


In addition to her parents, Patty was proceeded in death by her husband William Skvarla and her brother John Leopardo.


Visiting hours will be held on Sunday August 11, 2024 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. A mass of Christian burial will be held at the Holy Redeemer Church on Monday August 12, 2024 at 10:00 am with Father Joe Freedy officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
