Margaret “Peggy” Deemer Thompson, 59, of Aetna Dr., Ellwood City unexpectedly passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, October 1, 2018.

Born September 1, 1959 in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late Harry E. and B. Eileen Gaston Deemer . She would have celebrated her 7th anniversary to Jim Thompson in December, even though they had been together for 31 years.

Peggy graduated from Lincoln High School in 1977. She had worked for State Farm Insurance for over 41 years at different offices, most recently at the Slippery Rock Office for Lynn Hopkins. She was a member of the Wurtemburg United Methodist Church. Peggy was an active member and officer for the Ellwood City Saxon Club, Branch 32. She was also a member of the 45th Branch of the Saxons. Peggy collected Longaberger baskets and enjoyed camping. She cherished time spent taking care of her grandsons.

In addition to her husband, Jim, survivors include two step-children, Jamie Thompson and Carol Guthrie of Ellwood City; 2 grandsons, William and Kyle Guthrie; four sisters, Susan (John) Witty of South Carolina, Stephanie (Mike Lytle) Ashley of Maryland, Harriet (Bill) McGilton of Ohio; and her twin, Patty (Thomas) Lash of Ellwood City; her mother in law, Anna Thompson of New Castle, brother in law, John (Debbie) Thompson of Washington, sister in law, Peggy (Anthony) Micco of New Castle; one niece, Stephanie Settle and three nephews, Justin (Erica) Witty, Adam Witty, and Scott (Brittany) Ashley.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Dennis H. Yohn who passed away in 1987.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday October 4 from 4 to 7 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Friends will also be received at the funeral home on Friday from 10 am until the time of the funeral service at 11 am. Interment will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery.
