Ralph W. “Red” Mohr, 88, of Chewton passed away Monday, January 8, 2018 at UPMC – Jameson Hospital.
Born July 1, 1929 in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late Orrie and Reine Snare Mohr. Ralph was married for 63 years to Agnes “Tootsie” Vansovich Mohr who survives.
Red graduated from Wampum High School. He served in the Navy aboard the USS Higby and Bryce during the Korean War. Ralph was a member of the former Queen of Heaven Church in Wampum and a current member of Holy Redeemer Parish. He retired from Medusa Cement Company where he worked in the packhouse. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. A sports enthusiast, Red was a fan of all sports. Red cherished time spent with his great grandsons who he adored.
In addition to his wife, Agnes, survivors include a son, Scott A. (Debra) Mohr of Chewton; grandson, Scott A. (Katie) Mohr II of Chewton; granddaughter, Diana M. (Joshua) McClure of New Castle; and four great grandsons, Hoyt and Chase Mohr, and Bryce and Caiden McClure.
The last of his family, Ralph was preceded in death by three sisters, Augusta Hogue, Caroline Capalbo, Doris Turner; and four brothers, Norm, John, Don, and Paul Mohr..
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday January 10 from 4-7 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main Street, Wampum. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10 am at Holy Redeemer Parish with Rev. Father Mark Thomas officiating. Military rites will be offered by the Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will follow in the Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
