Ray Wilson Yoho, 86, of Wayne Twp. passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot, PA.
Born November 20, 1930 in Shenango Twp., he was the son of the late John E and Catharine Irene Houk Yoho.
Ray graduated and served as the Class President for the Class of 1948 at Shenango High School. He served aboard the USS Lowery in the US Navy during the Korean War where he was awarded The Korean Service Medal with one star and the United Nations Service Medal. Following his honorable discharge in 1952, Ray studied at Penn State University, graduating in 1957 with an electrical engineering degree. Ray retired from Rockwell/Boeing in California in 1990. He enjoyed working outdoors.
Survivors include four sisters, Jean Spears of New Castle, Leann (John) Roth of Huntsville, AL, Sally Swaney of Lebanon, TN, Susan Colella of Jackson, MI; sister in law, Norma Yoho of New Castle; and several nieces, nephews, great and great great nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Neil E. Yoho and John D. Yoho, two brothers in law, Lawrence E. Spears and Donald Swaney, sister in law, Geraldine Yoho Frohnapfel, a nephew, Rickie Spears, and a niece Julie Roth Evans.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, October 10 from 11 am until the time of the funeral service at 12 noon at the Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church, Ellwood City. Pastor James R. O’hara of the Castlewood Christian and Missionary Alliance Church will officiate. Military rites will be offered by the Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Slippey Rock Church Cemetery Association.
