Richard L. Stelter Sr.

Richard Lee Stelter Sr., 74, of Oswald St., Wampum (Wayne Twp.) died unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at his residence.

Born April 23, 1939 on the family homestead in Shenango Twp, he was the son of the late Fred D. and Virginia Bowden Stelter. He was married on October 9, 1959 to Judy Shallenberger Stelter, who survives.

Richard graduated from Shenango High School in 1957. He was an Eagle Scout and a Veteran of the Army. He retired in 2000 with 33 years of service from Medusa Cement Company where he was a heavy equipment operator. For the past five years, Richard was a part time driver for 4-Ways Sales and Service. He was a member of the Savannah United Methodist Church. Richard enjoyed gardening, camping, bird watching, and playing the accordion. His most cherished time was spent with family.

In addition to his wife, Judy, survivors include two sons, Richard (Marcy) Stelter Jr. of West Pittsburg, Randy (Lori) Stelter of Wampum; a daughter, Debbie Aiken of Wampum; sister, Delores Cox of Pulaski; two brothers, Fred (Florence) Stelter of Wampum, Ron Stelter of Wampum; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, February 7 from 5 to 8 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main Street Wampum. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 11:00 am with his pastor, Rev. Laura Puleo officiating. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery.
