Robert E. McFate, 67, of North Beaver Twp. passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018, at UPMC Jameson following a two year illness.
Born November 22, 1950 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Robert J. McFate and June Henry McFate of Bessemer. He was married for 41 years to Janet Householder McFate who survives.
Following graduation from Mohawk High School in 1969, Bob served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He retired from Youngstown Tube Company and was affiliated with the Wampum Presbyterian Church. An avid hunter, Bob was a member of the Mahoning Sportsman Club and the Coon and Fox Hunters Club in Bessemer. Bob was also an accomplished gardener who was known for his special tomatoes and hot peppers.
In addition to his wife and mother, survivors include a daughter, Erin (Josh) Coonfare of Ellwood City; two sons, Kevin McFate of Hermitage; and Air Force Tech Sgt Stephen (Casey) McFate of Cabot, Arkansas; two sisters, Linda McFate of Bessemer; and Betty (Bernie) Pagliaro of New Castle; brother, Roy McFate of Chicago; six grandchildren, Nathan, Nicholas, and Kennedy Coonfare, Grayson Groh, and Emma and Owen McFate; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Rick McFate.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday January 25 from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Marshall Funeral Home, Wampum. Funeral Services will be held at the Wampum Presbyterian Church on Friday at 11:00 am with Rev. Elizabeth Wallace officiating. Military rites will be offered by the Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will follow in Mt Jackson Cemetery.
