Robert W. Allen

Robert W. Allen, 90, of Wampum passed away Monday, April 8, 2019 at UPMC – Jameson Hospital in New Castle.

Born April 14, 1928 in Isle, PA, he was the son of the late Robert O.and Irma M. (Cress) Allen.

Bob graduated from Wampum High School. In 1947, Bob began installing wallpaper and continued for the next 50 years. He also worked and retired from Babcock and Wilcox with 30 years of service. He was a member of the Wampum Presbyterian Church, the Free and Accepted Masons, and the Syria Shrine of Pittsburgh. He served in the Army as a cryptographer stationed in Japan during the Korean War.

Survivors include a niece, Deanna (Rev. Mike) Wimer; three great nieces, Sonya Matus (Jim) Mangino, Sherry Matus (Kevin) Genareo, Morgan Wimer, and a great nephew, Brent (Jackie) Matus, all of Wampum. He is also survived by three great great nieces, two great great nephews, one great great great niece and two great great great nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine E. Gorst.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday April 11 from 4 until the time of the funeral service at 7 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, Main Street, Wampum. Rev. Mike Wimer of the Chewton First Baptist Church will officiate. Military rites will be offered by the Veterans Honor Guard. Final interment will take place in Clinton Cemetery.
