Ronald Arthur Hazen, 95, of Wayne Township passed away Thursday, May 11, 2023 at his residence.
Born October 18, 1927 in Wayne Township, he was the son of the late Arthur Floyd and Elda L. Haine Hazen. He married the late Betty Jane Wehman Hazen in August 1948. They were married until she passed away on June 25, 2011.
Ronald was a Veteran of the United States Army and served during WWII and Korea. For 40 years, Ron was the owner and operator of A.F. Hazen and Sons. He was a member of the Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church and served as the President of the Slippery Rock Cemetery Board for 20 years. Ron was the past president of the PA Petroleum Association, a lifetime charter member of the Boy Scouts of America, a former board member of 1st National Bank, and a member of the Wayne Township Volunteer Fire Department. Other organizations that Ron belonged to were the Pittsburgh Petroleum Club and the Rotary Club. He enjoyed going to various casinos, especially trips to Las Vegas.
Survivors include two daughters, Connie (Jerry) Horinka of Wayne Township and Cerrie Hazen of New Castle; son, Arthur “Skip” (Lisa) Hazen of Beaver; brother, Wayne Hazen of South Carolina; granddaughter, Jennifer (Frank) Valenti; four grandsons, Richard R. and Gerald (Samantha) Horinka and Arthur (Natalie) and Kyle (Michelle) Hazen; seven great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Betty.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday May 15, 2023 from 10:00 am until the Funeral Service at 11:30 am at the Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church Ellwood City. Pastor Carolyn Moss will officiate. Military Honor’s will be observed.
Interment will follow in Slippery Rock Church Cemetery Mausoleum.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Special Olympics.
